Grading CES 2025 with generative AI
SDG News reports that CES 2025, held in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10, 2025, closed after four days with more than 4,500 exhibiting companies, over 141,000 visitors, and more than 6,000 media outlets in attendance. The Korea AI Education Association (chaired by Hyungnam Moon, professor at Sookmyung Women’s University) and the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Research Institute used generative AI to evaluate the exhibitors on five criteria — innovation, convenience, interest, growth potential, and sustainability — and selected a top-10 list of large corporations and a top-10 list of startups.
How the evaluation worked
The team ran the exercise across six generative AIs — ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, ClovaX, Cue, and Claude — but four of them lacked up-to-date CES 2025 data and could not produce meaningful results. In the end, the researchers accepted MS Copilot’s top-10 large-company ranking (led by Nvidia, alongside names such as Honda, Asus, Samsung Electronics, Sony, and LG Electronics) and ChatGPT-4o’s top-10 startup ranking as valid, after several rounds of refinement. The article cautions that some generative AIs showed hallucination or bias, so non-expert readers should have such outputs verified by experts.
Haply Robotics ranked the number-one startup
Haply Robotics took first place among the top 10 startups. The cited reasons for selection: the MinVerse 3D touch mouse, whose innovative haptic feedback technology lets users feel realistic texture, weight, and resistance in a digital environment; its Best Innovation Award at the CES 2025 Innovation Awards; and its recognized potential in 3D design, gaming, and robotics. The remaining startups on the list were Inviz Corporation, Aerleum, Akidaia, Alafia AI, Absolute Magnetics AG, Aiphonia, AGC Inc., Aiper Intelligent, and Apollon.
